Augustana Mission

For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”     Romans 10:13-15

Statement of Mission

We the people of Augustana Lutheran Church are called to share the love of God the Father, the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the strength and wisdom of the Holy Spirit:

1.By Study, worship, and prayer;

2.By sharing the Good News of salvation;

3.By giving love, service, and support to those around us.

A Church of Healing, Hope, and Belonging

Through these three commitments—Recovery, Renewal, and Relationship—we live out our calling to be a living expression of God’s mercy in a hurting world.

At Augustana Lutheran Church, we:

Proclaim the Gospel with compassion and clarity.

Welcome all who seek grace and belonging.

Serve our neighbors with generosity and dignity.

Christ is still at work through the Church, bringing healing to the world.

Here, the broken are welcomed, the weary find rest, and all are invited to experience the transforming love of God.

How We Carry Out Our Mission

A Spiritual Hospital for Sinners

At Augustana Lutheran Church, our mission is to be a spiritual hospital for sinners—a place of grace, healing, and hope where Christ meets us in our real, everyday struggles.

We believe the Church exists not for the perfect but for those who know their need for God’s mercy. Everything we do flows from that conviction.We live out this mission through three key areas of focus that connect our faith to the life of our community:

1. Standing with the Recovery Community

Healing begins with honesty, humility, and grace. Augustana is committed to walking alongside those on the journey of recovery—from addiction, loss, and life’s many struggles.We are becoming known as the church that stands with the recovery community, showing up where healing happens:Partnering with local recovery and substance-abuse programs.Hosting support groups, healing services, and educational seminars.Providing space where people can find community, hope, and the steady presence of grace.Every recovery story is a story of resurrection. We believe that in walking with one another toward wholeness, we meet Christ Himself.

2. Welcoming Those Seeking a New Spiritual Home

In a world of uncertainty and division, people long for something real and rooted. Augustana offers a home for all who seek a community grounded in Word and Sacrament, where faith is authentic, grace is central, and questions are welcome.Many who join us come from other traditions—Episcopal, United Methodist, Presbyterian, and others—seeking renewal and depth in their faith journey.Here, faith is not about perfection but about God’s mercy meeting us where we are.We are a church of welcome, humility, and hope—offering rest for the soul and community for the heart.

3. Deepening Relationships Through Generosity

Generosity is part of the heartbeat of Augustana. Through our Food Pantry and community outreach, we serve our neighbors who face hunger, uncertainty, and financial hardship.But our mission goes beyond food. We believe in relationship-based generosity—learning names, sharing stories, and extending friendship and prayer along with physical support.Every act of giving becomes an act of grace, reminding us that we are all part of God’s great family of love and care.
